(Online!) Facilitation for Community-Engaged Artists

Facilitators: Nikki Shaffeeullah and Matthew Armstead

When: Monday May 17th, 7-9pm EST & Tuesday May 18th, 7-9pm EST

About: This invitation-based, paid training opportunity will make space for invited groups of artists from equity-seeking communities to develop their skills and confidence in facilitating spaces online. Grounded in direct education, the workshop will explore tools and practices that support facilitators to build and maintain dynamic, emergent, and healthy creative online spaces. We will touch on workshop design; strategies for "reading the room" online; how to support emergent processes; making space for shifts, surprises, and conflict; and equity and access considerations.

Who is it for: This workshop series seeks to empower artists & arts workers who are leading group-based work in their communities with a view to social justice. This may include artists facilitating collaborative creative work (performing arts, writing, and visual arts) in community settings, and artists who are organizing for social change in their industries.
